Eduardo Castillo-Lares crashed the rented vehicle around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, on the Windmill Trail in Jericho Mountain State Park in Berlin, New Hampshire, wildlife officials said.

An investigation found that Castillo-Lares was riding with several other vehicles when he sped up and "swerved on purpose," causing the UTV to flip onto its roof. People riding with him called for help.

"After initial investigation, it appears that recklessness and an improper aggressive turn are the leading factors leading to this incident," said New Hampshire Fish and Wildlife officials. "Alcohol and drug intoxication are not considered factors in this crash. But Castillo-Lares faces charges for his reckless actions resulting in the rollover."
